Show Annual Dixie College Alumni Banquet Slated For Saturday Nite The 1940 Dixie junior college Alumni banquet will be held on Saturday, May 18. Side-stepping a custom followed for the past quarter of a century, the Alumni organization officers for 1940 have pushed the banquet date up one week to permit more students and patrons to attend this stimulating annual function. Previously it has been the last item on the year's program, and because of this many have been unable to remain over the extra day to participate. The committee is being congratulated for this move and already are feeling compensation com-pensation in the interest being shown. Officers for the current year include Wesley A. Nelson, Von B. Cottam, D. C. Watson Jr., Roma Snow and Jane Pace and they promise an A-l chicken dinner, Dixie style, at the Arrowhead hotel banquet rooms, Saturday at 8 p.m., with a program spiced to the occasion. Drawing from three periods, of graduates, 1913 (the first class) 1927, and 1940, the dinner program pro-gram has been arranged, with Ellis J. Pickett, one of the 13 who graduated in 1913 as toastmaster. Numbers will include Banjo solos, by Ray Whipple of the 1927 class; (Continued on page five) Alumni Banquet (Continued on page three) toast to the present college graduates, gradu-ates, John T. Woodbury Jr. of the 1913 graduates; response, De-Lance De-Lance Squire, of the 1940 class; numbers by the Dixie Male Quartet, Quar-tet, directed by Mrs. Mae A. Pace; toasts to the high school graduates of 1940, Anna Brooks Taylor of the class of 1927; response, re-sponse, Edith Crosby of the class of 1940; vocal solo, Miss Roene Bigler, student body vice-president for 1941, . accompanied by Mrs. Pace; "Spiced Unbuttered Toast" to all Alumni members, Maurice J. Miles; xylophone solo, Dean Peterson, business instructor of the college. Reservations are already coming in, state committee members and this year's banquet promises to be outstanding in point of numbers num-bers attending. It is understood many former graduates are planning plan-ning to return for the event. For those who have not made reservations, reserva-tions, the tickets may be purchased pur-chased or laid aside on phone orders at the Dixie Drug or the Dixie college, or by contacting any one of the 1940 Alumni officers. offi-cers.
