Show Joseph K. Nicholes Guest Speaker At Dixie Honor Day Program Former President Joseph K. Nicholes, now of the Brigham Young university, was a special guest at the Honor Day exercises held at the college auditorium last Friday. A. M. Maughan of Richfield, Rich-field, president of the Utah High School Athletic association was also present. The former had his picture presented to the Science department of the college, while the latter made the state championship cham-pionship football award to the high school team. Miss Mildred Bentley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bentley, received re-ceived the Chamber of Commerce award of social service. This award is outstanding, in that it implies unselfish service during the past two years in the college, the community, and the church. Other outstanding awards were: J. E. Seegmiller, college valedictorian, valedic-torian, highest scholastic achievement; achieve-ment; Herma Gubler, high school valedictorian; Howard Morris, (Continued on page six) College Honor Day (Continued from first page) U.S.A.C. scholarship; Roma Snow, B.Y.U. scholarship; J- E. Seeg-miller, Seeg-miller, U. of U. scholarship; Delsy Woodbury, Eldon Gubler, Reed Gray, Herma Gubler, Dixie college col-lege scholarships. Awards for activity in the various departments were also made. Some of the outstanding of these were: E. J. Bleak award for outstanding work in music, to Aileen Worthen; LeRoy Cox medal for outstanding college debater, de-bater, to DeLance Squire, and for outstanding high school debater, to Dwayne Bryner; Mechanic Art award to George Thompson; M. J. Miles and J. K. Nicholes awards for outstanding work in the physical physi-cal sciences to J. E. Seegmiller and Elmer Pickett; Biology department de-partment awards to Vere Barn-hurst, Barn-hurst, Orlo Hall, Harold Higgms, Robert Pendleton, J. E. Seegmiller, Seegmil-ler, Ray Porter, and LaPrele Sullivan; Sul-livan; Physical science department awards to Eldon Gubler, Reed Gray, Paul Crosby, Bill Fry and Dwayne Bryner; Art department awards to JessieTarsoTanTw !
