Show Symphony Orchestra Slated For ' Opening (lumber On Fine Arts Festival Three Days Of Outstanding Entertainment In Music, Literature and Tictorial Art To Feature Festival; Hundreds Of Pictures On Display A program by the Federal Symphony orchestra from Salt Lake City will be the feature of the opening day of the Fine Arts Festival December 1, which will be devoted to music, it was announced today by Earl J. Bleak, music chairman of the Festival committee. The program will be presented in the St. George Tabernacle at S p.m. I v" : I f , M Mr I Vt j PROF. EARL J. BLEAK Music Chairman Finances necessary to bring the orchestra here have been pledged by the various religious and civic organizations of St. George who formulated plans at a recent meeting meet-ing for bringing the orchestra here. Up to the time of the paper going to press the following organizations organiza-tions have responded with one hundred per cent of the amount pledged: Dixie college band. St. George Rotary, Dixie college faculty, facul-ty, and St. George Business and Professional women. Numerous requests to have the B.Y.U. symphony orchestra return for another program such as it presented last year brought out the fact that it was scheduled to play over a national radio hook-up on that date. Outsninling Orchestra The federal orchestra known as the Utah Symponietta. is made up of professional musicians under the direction of Reginald Beales. It is reported to be one of the finest in the state, and St. George music lovers will have a rare musical ; treat, according to Professor Bleak. Due to the fact that federal regulations re-gulations prohibit the placing of an admission charge, the orchestra will be sponsored by Delta Phi Alpha. Contributions to help defray de-fray the expenses of transportation and lodging for the orchestra will be accepted at the door. Admission will be free, but patrons who are not contacted by the above organizations or-ganizations will be permitted to assist as they see fit to do. It is requested by the committee that children under fourteen be accompanied ac-companied by their parents. |
