Show "Old Jules" To Be Reviewed By Mrs. Rornney Sunday evening, November 28, Mrs. Roxey Rornney will present the book "Old Jules", by Mari Sandoz, as the second Library Hour program open to the public. Old Jules is a true story of American adventure and pioneer life, an epic typical of the lives of many men who pioneered the west, men who made Nebraska, Oregon, Utah. A calm, quiet man, such as "Old Jules" never was could have fitted into the scheme, but pioneering would have had no flavor, no actual accomplishments, no history to write about, had it not been for such characters as Mari Sandoz depicts in this unusual un-usual biography. Brimming with actual history, the story lacks nothing of the thrill of fiction intriguing the reader's mind, once more' peopling those hazardous pioneer trails westward with endless end-less caravans of faithful women and fearless men men like "Old Jules". |
