Show NEV, CONSTRUCTION CO. GETS CONTRACT MT. CARMEL ROAD The Nevada Construction company of Fallon, Nevada, was the successful bidder for the first section of the Zion Park-Mt. Carmel highway project Monday. The bid was $263,881.94. Bids were opened before the state road commission Monday afternoon for the first of two sections to be built by the state on the big scenic highway loop that is designed to link into closer unity the major scenic attractions of southern Utah and the Arizona strip. The project entails the building of ten miles of standard gravel surface highway from Mount Carmel in Kane county westerly toward Zion National park to Chamberlain's ranch on the plateau land that borders the park area. While definite estimates were not announced by the state road department de-partment it was reported the cost of this project would approximate $25,-000. $25,-000. Several estimates were submitted by big contracting firms operating in the mountain states. |
