Cox pushed and Smith pitched the foul. Stratton was relieved at forward for-ward by Gates, V. Christiansen slipped in a pretty ringer to set the score at 10 to 7. Hayes got a set-up but was pushed by L. Cox. Hayes converted both fouls and P. G. went ahead 11 to 10. Stratton went back in for Dixie. Smith was doing some splendid quard-ing quard-ing for the Grovers. Stratton was accurate on a side toss. Romney's pretty pass enabled Cox to sneak in another goal from the far corner. JThe half ended 14 to 11. Pleasant Grove rushed the ball desperately des-perately but Stratton got away twice for easy goals. Smith of the Grovers pushed one in and Linebaugh overthrew over-threw the ring on a set-up. Kirk was more accurate and rang in a two-pointer. two-pointer. A bad pass gave Stratton the ball directly under the board and he ran Dixie's total up to 20. Pectol was caught pushing, Smith missed the try. Cox zig-zagged his way under the basket bas-ket and made an over-hand shot and Romney arched another into the net from the middle of the floor. The boys from the Strawberry City missed Christiansen's speed and finished the inning in arrears by 38 to 15. Pleasant Grove worked into position for some good pitches but had no luck. Pectol rode Kirk 'to the floor but the Grover midget could make but one of his two throws. Stratton tossed in another easy goal and it was 30 to 16. Kirk and Hayes negotiated a close one with Hayes on the scoring end. Witt-wer Witt-wer took Pectol's place at guard. Cox scoring directly over two guards and repeated the performance a second later. Both sides were fagged out under un-der the grind. The little P. G. boys had little left but a lot of fight and finally bowed to the best team in the tournament, 36 to 19. Dixie G. T. F. P. By far the hardest game of the tournament was played with Bingham Friday night. At the end of the first quarter Bingham led 11 to 8. At the end of the half the score was Bingham 15, Dixie 13. The final score was 30 to 26 for Dixie. ' |
