Show CHAMPS FETED AFTER VICTORY Immediately after the presentation ceremonies were over following the winning of the state championship by Dixie last Saturday night, the team and all Dixie supporters returned to the Wilson hotel, which was turned over to Dixie and a grand celebration staged. Earl Bleak and his orchestra which had done noble service throughout through-out the tournament, furnished the music for a dance which did not break up until 2 a. m. Declining several offers from different dif-ferent persons to entertain them, Coach Hafen and the team took a day of rest Sunday. Monday morning they were taken on a tour of the nearby towns, including Bingham and Garfield. Gar-field. At Bingham a reception was accorded ac-corded the winners, Bingham expressing express-ing the hope that Dixie may return from Chicago with national honors. A banquet had been prepared, but the boys declined as arrangements had already al-ready been made for a banquet in their honor given by the Z. C. M. I. in Salt Lake. Coach Hafen and the team accompanied accom-panied by a large party of Dixie fans, left Salt Lake at 5 o'clock Monday afternoon, af-ternoon, for St. George. They arrived at Beaver at 1 a. m. Tuesday and spent the remainder of the night. While ordering breakfast at a restaurant res-taurant Tuesday morning the entire Beaver high school descended upon the place and they were escorted to the school where a reception was given in their honor. Arriving at Cedar City the party was taken to the school building and royally entertained. The business men of the town presented them with $50, and the student body and faculty each gave $25 toward the Chicago trip. Continuing their journey the party arrived at St George at 2:45 where a royal welcome home awaited them. |
