Show WILL CELEBRATE TOMORROW iF HONOR OF DIXIE FLIERS' VICTORY Entire County Invited to Take Part in Activities; Free Community Com-munity Luncheon Will Be Served in Gymnasium at 6 P. M.; Basketball Game and Dance to Follow; Benefit Eastern Trip Washington county will join with St. George Friday in a celebration in honor of the Dixie high school Fliers, Utah state basketball champions. Invitations are extended to every person in the county and Cedar City has been asked to send representatives. A free community luncheon will be served at the college gymnasium at 6 o'clock p. m. followed by a program. A crowd of three thousand or more is expected at the luncheon and refreshments re-freshments in sufficient quantity to care for the wants of all are being prepared. A feature of the evening will be an exhibition basketball game between the champion high team and Dixie College. There are many people in the county and even in St. George who have never seen this wonderful aggregation aggre-gation of basket shooters in action and this exhibition game will afford a fine opportunity for all to see the boys who won the state championship competing com-peting against one of the strongest junior college teams in the state. The game will start at 8. College and high school boys will work on the school grounds and whitewash white-wash the "D" in the morning, while the girls will assist in preparing sandwiches sand-wiches for the luncheon. A torchlight parade will be held at 7 o'clock. A big dance will be given in the gym following the basketball game. A small admission fee will be charged for the game and dance, and this will go toward to-ward the Chicago trip. In addition to honoring the basketball basket-ball boys and their coach, and to show the appreciation of the county for the efforts of the team in the bringing of the championship cup to St. George I for the second time, the affair is also j in the form a public send-off for the j team will leave next week to enter the J national tournament at Chicago. |
