Show MANY ATTEND LEADERSHIP WEEK The Dixie College Leadership Week closed Jan. 14 with a larger attendance attend-ance record than ever before. Visitors and executives from all of the surrounding sur-rounding stakes participated in the splendid programs and received first hand valuable suggestions from our visiting experts. Six major divisions of study were directed by men and women" of professional pro-fessional training and experience, namely, 1st Religious leadership supervised sup-ervised by John T. Woodbury, Jr.; 2nd Agricultural leadership, divided divid-ed into three sections a Farm and Range animals, Jed R. Fawcett in charge; b Soils and Farm crops J. Wm. Harrison supervising andc Cooperative Co-operative Marketing, Mathew M. Bent-ley, Bent-ley, in charge ; 3rd Home making leadership 1 comprising A Nursing, under direction of Mrs. May W. Hunt; B Clothing supervised by" Miss Alice Pendleton and C Home management, directed by Mrs. Wildee D. Smith. 4th Recreational leadership, Leland Hafen in charge; 5th Scout leadership, St. George Scout Council conducting, and 6th Literary leadership with A. K. Hafen in charge. The leadership faculty included the Dixie College board and faculty and the visiting professors: Dr. Adam S. Bennion, Sup't of L. D. S. Church Schools; Mr. W. O. Robinson, Recreational Recrea-tional Expert;; Dr. F. S. Harris, Pres. B. Y. U. Soil Expert; Dr. Cannon, B. Y. U. dairying expert; Prof. Byron Alder, U. A. C. Poultry expert; Prof. W. P. Thomas, U. A. C, Cooperative Marketing expert; Prof. Charlotte E. Dancey, U. A. C, Expert in Nursing Miss Afton Odell, U. A. C, Clothing expert; Mrs. Effie S. Barows, U. A. C, Prof, oi Home Management,; noi. e.. Ray Lyman, B. A. C, Expert in Sheep Husbandry. This community and the surrounding surround-ing communities felt themselves especially fortunate in having Dr. Bennion with them during the week on his last official visit as Supt. of Church schools. They feel that Dr. Bennion is ever mindful of Dixie's welfare and appreciate his interest in her. They were also appreciative of the interest taken by Pres. F. S. Harris in Dixie's Agricultural problems. It is significant that Pres. Harris with Professors Alder, Cannon and Thomas, visited in sourrounding communities com-munities studying the problems of soil alkali, plant growth, dairying, poultn- and cooperative marKeung otiuic cuu-ing cuu-ing to St. George. They were prepared prepar-ed to meet more fully the problems that stand in the way of Dixie's agricultural agri-cultural future. They will bear in mind these problems and will work upon them during the year as a basis for the leadership programs for 1923-19. 1923-19. ' - |
