Show PRODUCTION OF COPPER GROWS NEW YORK. Trade circles report re-port that a sale of copper has been made by a custom smelter at 9',j cents a pound, a concession of a quarter of a cent from the ruling rul-ing quotation yesterday and equal to the low figure reached in the price slump last fall. Other custom smelters were said to be open to bids at 9'i cents a pound. Producers continued to hold their metal at 10 cents, delivered, de-livered, and the export price remained re-mained at 10.30 cents. Meanwhile, the American Bureau Bu-reau cf Metal Statistics reported ,sn increase in production for March, a development interpreted in the trade as bearish. World output last month was placed at 136.655 tons .against 128. GS5 tons in February and 129,390 tons in January. Production in the United States last month likewise showed an increase, in-crease, totaling 57,922 tons, against 55,229 tons in February and 53,-429 53,-429 tons in January. |
