Show VVOKJLD OIL CONDITIONS HAVE CHANGED Perhaps the time has come when the United States should withdraw with-draw from competing; with other countries for the oil markets of the world. Already American companies com-panies have lost many valuable markets in foreign countries because be-cause of the tremendous increase in petroleum production in other comi tries, especially Russia and Rumania. Countries around the Mediterranean have almost unlimited unlim-ited petroleum possibilities. The Royal Dutch Shell is not only corraling the oil market of Europe, Eu-rope, Asia and Africa, but it is carrying the war into America. Maybe the proponents of a tariff on petroleum and its products prod-ucts are half-way righj and we ought to have a tariff to protect the oil industry. If there should come a time when congress in its infinite wisdom should graciously gracious-ly condescend to place a tariff on oil imiports it should be high enough to shut out all foreign competition. It should be remembered remem-bered that building high protective tariff walls is a game that miore than one country can play at I and that when this company gets jjv ready for an oil tariff, it should Nlso be prepared to Sst by on |
