Show DEMONSTRATION SHOWS BENEFIT OF FERTILIZER One of the most striking demonstrations dem-onstrations of what the use of comtmercial fertilizer, such as that shipped in here some time ago by the Dixie Cooperative Marketing Market-ing association, will do, may be seen in the field of John H. Cottam, Cot-tam, a mile south of town. The 10-acre 10-acre field was seeded only a year ago and on March 2 of this year 1000 pounds of fertilizer was used on ZM acres. The increased production pro-duction with the use of fertilizer over the rest of the field which was unfertilized is beyond expectations. expec-tations. The 1000 pounds cost $32 and the alfalfa cut from one acre will pay for the entire amount used on the 3 Vi acres. The alfalfa from the fertilized plot is now knee deep and will be ready to cut in ten days or so. On the rest cf the field the crop is from four to six inches in-ches in height, and is scrawny and stinted. Director William Peterson Pe-terson of the extension service, who was here Saturday, said the demonstration was the best he had ever witnesesd. Anyone inclined to be skeptical, should visit the field within the next ten daj's and see for themselves them-selves the wonders worked by a few pounds of fertilizer on worn-out worn-out soil. |
