' "It has six points on one side and four points on the other side. I got my buck near Flaming Gorge during the second day of the deer hunt Oct. 18. It was 30 yards away when I hit it in the neck. It fell right there and it was the biggest one that any guy in our party shot. It has a 29 inch spread and I was hoping it would win. It was in the pines and it came out in an opening right close by where I was. I was surprised that I saw it that close. We chased it over the hill and figured it was right in that area. It was 200 yards away when I first saw it. It weighed about 237 pounds," said Parry. Richens' buck was a three point with a spread of 28 and inches. "I got the buck by the Steinaker Reservoir Tuesday afternoon after the opener. It was 200 yards away when I shot it. I dropped it with the third shot. I hit it with the first two shots, but the buck wouldn't go down. The buck was old and it had old teeth. I didn't want to lose him sol kept on shooting. You don't see one that big that often," stated Richens. John Allred, Vernal placed fourth at 54 and 10-16 points and Jim Boren, Vernal, netted fifth place at 53 and 9-16 points. Both hunters were awarded White Mountain down filled vests. Boren nabbed his buck at King's Well in the Book Cliffs on the second to last day of the season Oct. 26. "It has seven points on one side and five on the other and has a spread of 25 and 5-16 inches. It was 70 yards away when I shot it in the neck and it fell right down. This is the biggest one I've ever gotten. I felt pretty good," said Boren. "I missed it the first time at 50 yards and it ran 20 yards and stopped. He was in a little flat area eating his lunch at 12:30 p.m. when I shot him."
