"They need perhaps ten minutes to evaluate each paper, and make suggestions and assign a grade. A teacher with six classes may have 180-200 180-200 papers to evaluate, and that's just for one writing assignment." Ulmer said the statewide figures show 1,250 junior high and high school math classes have more than 30 students, as do 1,341 social studies classes and 899 science classes. The average size of junior high and high school classes in Uintah School District by subject are: English, 30.5 students; math, 28.7 students; science, 28.8 students; social studies, 29.4 students; art, 30.3 students; business, 18.6 students; crafts and vocational, 32 students; health, 31.2 students; home economics, 21.1 students; physical education, 41.6 students and music, 20.3 students. |
