': The protest, made during the half . : bour budget hearing was concerning ' paying school taxes on property and some of the expenditures in the schools. A request was made from the Uintah Historical Society for $7,874 for a newer and salary for a part time historian to research and catalog Uintah Uin-tah County history in the county library. This amount was verbally approved ap-proved by the two commissioners pre- , sent who stated the funds could come ta the general fund. Jack Olsen, Executive Vice President of the Utah Taxpayers Association was present at the hearing and asked questions ques-tions concerning the county funds. Bob Gilbert, White River Oil Shale Co. representative, asked about the use of revenue sharing funds. He was told that these funds had been used this year for heavy road equipment purchases. Some of the outstanding expenditures of the 1982 budget include $11 million for the Red Wash road and $1 million for the Wagon Hound road, both energy roads to be financed by special grants and are called pass-through accounts. $1 million is budgeted for a nursing home facility, $826,718 for a future addition ad-dition to the county courthouse building, $500,000 each for collector roads and B roads and $1 million for county roads. All departments were increased over the 1981 budget to cover extra expenses and to allow for inflation. A 10 percent across the board wage and, salary increase for all county employees is provided for in the 1982 budget. Major income sources for 1982 include, in-clude, $11 million for special energy road grants, $2 million property taxes at 1981 level of 12.36 mills ; $1 million income in-come from licenses and permits, $750,000 interest, $500,000 sales and use taxes, $551,000 in lieu of taxes, $500,000 B roads and $350,000 collector roads. |
