V- j Jack Bell plans to go on for a secondary degree and a masters degree in history. She wants to teach school full time and enjoys macrame, crochet, taking care of her daughter and her home. Karen Fox-Major: Elementary Education; Minor: Language Arts. Karen is teaching at Todd Elementary and wants to get a Masters Degree. She plans to continue teaching and enjoys reading and sports. Clara T. Allen-Major: Social Work; Minor: Sociology. Clara is a Vista volunteer for the Battered Spouse Program. Pro-gram. She wants a job with social work such as child welfare or mental health. She likes animals and people and enjoys en-joys writing and genealogy, Delores Allred-Major: Early Childhood; Minor: Social Studies. Delores is the head teacher at the Ute Indian Tribe Head Start Program. She would like to teach kindergarten. She enjoys sewing, cooking, painting and classroom activities. Kaye Richens-Major: Elementary Education; Minor: Language Arts. Kay has been employed at Maeser Elementary Elemen-tary in the media center. She plans on teaching on the elementary level. She enjoys reading and swimming but her main interest is her family. Reid -Merkley-Major: Mathematics; Minor: Computer Science and Applied Statistics. Reid is a part time mechanic at Merkley Motor and a part time computer com-puter programmer for Uintah School District. He would like to teach on the junior high or higbschool level . He plans on teaching and likes athletics, hiking, fishing, hunting, camping and music. Cheryl McMullin-Major: Elementary Education; Minor: Social Studies. IX ) ; Max Weiss 20 Basin stfuderatfs o grcaducie rom USU This spring Utah State University Education Center will be celebrating its third year of graduating students (trough the Center. For the past three years the Center has been graduating students with B.S. and M.S. degrees. With this years graduating class some 60 students have graduated dur-Lng dur-Lng the past three years. Dr. Varnell Bench, director of the Center indicates tot he is pleased with the progress of the Center and feels the graduates are now making a significant impact on the professional job market in the Uintah Basin. ! Dr. Bench indicates that budget cuts have been made this year extremely difficult, however, through the cooperate coopera-te of the Duchesne School District, I'inlah School District and the Uintah WArea";Vocatibnal Center the I BU. Center has been able to com-plete com-plete the degrees of some 28 students. Stay of these students have received ill or most of their college education bere in the Uintah Basin. He following students are receiving Bachelor Degrees: j Carol Lewis-Major: Elementary 1 Education; Minor: Social Studies, j Carol is now substitute teaching. She s plans to teach after graduation. She enjoys en-joys sewing and reading. Cecil Gurr-Major; Psychology. He is the Chief of Police in Roosevelt city and plans to remain in that position. His activities ac-tivities include school and work. Floyd Wyasket-Major: Social Work. He is the personnel director for the Ute Tribe. He plans on going on to graduate school. Max Weiss-Major: Mathematics; Minor : Social Sciences. He works at the 7-11 and plans to teach high school and eventually college level courses. He enjoys en-joys the martial arts, designing and building model cars; chess, swimming, gymnastics, reading science fiction, science and medicine, and anything using us-ing the hands and mind as a combined unit.. . . ...... . . Laurie Davis-Major: Elementary Education; Minor: Social Science. She is teaching 6th grade at Myton Elementary Elemen-tary and plans to continue teaching. She enjoys reading, crewel embroidery, and taking care of her little girl. Emma Bloxham-Major: Elementary Education; Minor: Social Studies. She is an assistant teacher with the Ute Indian In-dian Tribe Head Start Program. She plans to stay in the teaching field and keeps busy with her church jobs. Sandra Rogers-Major: Business Education; Minor: Business Administration. Ad-ministration. She teaches business classes at Altamont High School and plans to teach on the high school level after graduation. She enjoys horseback riding, showing race horses, swimming, swimm-ing, and snow and water skiing. Kim Labrum-Major: Elementary Education. Kim works for the mosquito abatement program and substitute teaches. Kim plans on teaching in a local elementary school after graduation gradua-tion and enjoys horse back riding, snow skiing, and hiking. Cliftia Purcell-Major: Social Work; Minor: Psychology. She works at Basin Auto and has no immediate plans other than traveling. She likes to do individual in-dividual things like quilting, traveling and getting her education. Lynne Ames-Ma jqr: Elementary Education; Minor: Social Studies. She does some substitute teaching and camping, hiking and listening to country coun-try and western music. Robin Bull-Major: Elementary Education. She plans to teach. She enjoys en-joys downhill skiing, cooking, outdoor sports and other outdoor activities. The following students are receiving Master Degrees: Peggy Ence-Elementary Education. She teaches -4th grade at Naples Elementary and plans to keep on teaching. She enjoys music and her family. Jeff Corry-Masters of Education, emphasis em-phasis in History. Jeff teaches at Union High School. He teaches US History and German and plans to stay in the teaching vfield. He enjoys foreign languages aAd sp'brts: Y Jack Bell-Masters 'oC Education. He teaches science and math at Roosevelt Junior High. He plans to remain in the teaching profession and enjoys golf, hunting and fishing. Richard Hubert-Masters in Secondary Secon-dary Education with emphasis in Psychology. He is a seminary teacher at Roosevelt Junior High and West Junior High. Richard plans to stay in the seminary system. He likes gardening, garden-ing, carpentry, stamp collecting and photography. Dick Jones-Masters in Secondary Education with emphasis in math. He works at the Uintah Basin Vocational Center as a teacher and department head of Trades and Industry Department. Depart-ment. Dick teaches petroleum technology classes, drafting and math. He plans to stay in the teaching field. He enjoys wood working, cabinet making, mak-ing, outdoor sports, winter skiing, and boating. Christy King-Masters of Secondary Education with Art emphasis. She teaches art at Roosevelt Junior High School and plans to continue teaching. She enjoys art work, backpacking and camping. Brad Monks-Masters of Secondary Education with emphasis in Physical Education. Brad is a coach at Union High School and plans to stay in the teaching field. He enjoys basketball, water and snow skiing, football, soft-ball, soft-ball, all sports and has a special interest in-terest in his family. Louise Murch-Masters in Secondary Education with emphasis in Physical Education. She teaches Physical Education at Vernal Junior High and is the coach for the girls' sports. She enjoys en-joys teaching and working with kids and plans to stay in the teaching field. She likes the outdoors, cross country skiing, backpacking, hiking, reading, and cooking. Steven Murray-Masters in Secondary Education with emphasis in Psychology. He is a seminary teacher at Union High School and plans to stay in education, in the seminary program. He likes music, sports and basketball. The graduating students will be honored at graduation dinner April 24th.
