Show Friends of Animals to meet Dear Editor: Our organization has been criticized unjustly in this community because people are not educated to our purpose which is to help prevent animals from suffering, and to stop the unnecessary reproduction of dogs and cats, to convince people to take their unwanted pets to the pound, and not to abandon them to starve or some other cruel death. For the past several years, a small group of people, funded only by local donations or by our group fund raising projects, along with our local veterinarians Dr. Ed Oscarson and Dr. Doug Murphy, have given Vernal pet owners who were unable to pay the full price of a spay or neuter on their animals, an opportunity to have this service done for one half the cost. We pay for any animal that is injured or needs veterinarian care if the owner can't be found. We spend many hours on the phone trying to help people place unwanted, newborn or abandoned animals. We feel our services make Vernal a better place to live, but we need more support from you people who care about these problems in our community. com-munity. Please come to our open house at the American Legion hall to find out more about our organization April 13 at 7:30 p.m. If you wish to send a donation to P.O. Box 883, Vernal, Utah 84078, it would be greatly appreciated. FRIENDS OF ANIMALS |
