" v - ERIK ESTRADA Hike-bike funds to fight arthritis A hike or bike for people in pain, sponsored by the Utah Arthritis Foundation will be in its second year May 2 at 8:30 a.m. in Vernal, to raise funds through donations for either hiking or bicycling around a 10-mile course. Vernal's Hike-Bike last year was a pilot event for Utah and was so successful suc-cessful that the entire state is holding one this year. Funds collected from the Hike-Bike will be used for patient and community services, arthritis research, and public education about the disease. Carol P. Feltch, serving her third year as chairman of the Uintah County for the Arthritis Foundation, will be assisted by Uintah High Schools's Key Club and the Kiwanis Club. Television personality, Eric Estrada, star of NBS's series "Chips" was named national chairman of the Hike-Bike Hike-Bike program. In accepting the appointment, ap-pointment, Estrada said, "Hike-Bike is people of all ages showing their concern, because many of the problems are 'little ones,' like 250,000 children with arthritis." Ads will appear in the Vernal Express Ex-press and on television and radio. Many local prizes will again be awarded as well as grand prizes on a state level. Free t-shirts will be given each participant par-ticipant who collects $25 or more. Forms can be obtained from the Uintah County Public Library or by calling 789-5048 to enter in the Hike-Bike. |
