Show Airport closure Vernal Municipal Airport will be closed from April 13 to 19 due to sewer construction work underneath the main north-south runway. Frontier Airline flights will be cancelled after the 7:30 a.m. flight April 13 to Salt Lake City, according to Gary Osadchuk, station manager. The Frontier service will resume April 19 with the 6:30 p.m. Salt Lake City flight. Persons having reservations during the closure will have to change their flights or make other arrangements. Freight will still be handled at the terminal between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The freight will be trucked back and forth from Vernal to the Salt Lake International In-ternational Airport, by Wycoff Truck lines. A trunk line of the Ashley Valley sewer system crosses the main airport runway at about 1500 South. The large sewer line will be burrowed underneath the runway surface without cutting into it, but FAA rules require closing the airport while the construction is taking place. |
