Show DUP holds meeting at city park Camp May Ruple DUP held their April meeting at the City Park. Captain Lyla Bennion conducted. Ezma Reynolds led the singing. Alice Warren gave a history of Morten Rasmussen. In the short span of half a century, Morten lived a multitude of events. He was born in Demark, baptised into the LDS Church at 17, emigrated to America, married another convert, fathered twelve children and filled a mission to his fatherland. He died in 1885 in Mt. Pleasant. Historian Wanda Powell gave the history of the great Chief Ouray of the Ute Indian Tribe. He was a good friend of thewhiteman, and was the only chief who could make himself understood in English. He was devoted to his wife, Chepeta. The next meeting of Camp May Ruple will be held in September. |
