J SQUARE DANCERS swing their partners to the tunes of old country music during the annual Big U Jamboree to be held this weekend at the Vernal Junior High School. Over 500 dancers are expected for this year's dance. Square dancers to whirl at annual jamboree The 18th Annual Big U Square Dance Jamboree plans to attract over 500 dancers from Utah to the Vernal Junior High gymnasium this Friday and Saturday, May 8 and 9. This year's featured callers for one of the largest square dances in Utah are Don Carlson of Wamsutter, Wyo., and Fred Brown from the Uintah Basin! Carlson will call Friday evening's Welcome Dance at 9 p.m. and Fred will call the Saturday workshop at 2 p.m., followed by a ham dinner for all dancers. dan-cers. The dance will resume at 8 p.m. Saturday evening with Brown calling. All the dancers will be dressed in the colorful attire of square dancing and should prove to be a beautiful attraction at-traction to watch. All visitors from the community are invited and welcome to attend free of charge. The Vernal Dinah Dancer Club with the help of the club caller, Ron Pederson and his wife, Barbara, are sponsoring the dance. |
