Show Vernal Panthers win two encounters Vernal Junior High's varsity volleyball team improved its record to 4-0 with victories over Duchesne and Roosevelt last week. The varsity-Panthers varsity-Panthers dow ned Duchesne 15 to 12 and 15 to 8 Sept. 22 and thumped Roosevelt Thursday in Vernal 15-12 and 15-10. June Anderson was the top Vernal server in the first game with Duchesne at 12 points and Tia Liebhardt had two points. Janet Saupe scored one point. Saupe and Stacie Searle were the top Vernal scorers in the second game at four counters and Marcie McNeill, Anderson and Tammy Estes added two points. Liebhardt scored one point. . Saupe was the number one Vernal server in the first game with six points and Anderson scored five points. Liebhardt added two points and McNeill, Mc-Neill, Kim Drollinger scored one point. Liebhardt was the top Vernal server in the second game at five points and Anderson and McNeill .scored four points. Drollinger and Searle added one point. Vernal's junior varsity team toppled Duchesne 15 to 13 and 15 to 8 and nipped Roosevelt 15 to 7 and 17 to 15. Cami Reed was the top Vernal scorer in the first game at four points and Denise Smuin scored three points. Cindy Anderson, Kim Wall and Jill Hamsen scored two points. Shellie Beynon added one point. Reed was the high scorer in the second game at seven points and Hamsen and Tabatha Deans scored three points. Smuin and Anderson An-derson added one point. Anderson was the number one Vernal junior varsity server in the first game with Roosevelt at six points. Smuin nabbed five counters and Deans added . four points. Teresa Johnson led the Panthers with six points in the second game and Wall, Anderson scored three points. Hamsen and Deans scored two counters and Smuin added one point. Vernal will host Duchesne Thursday at 3:30 p.m. and will battle Altamont in Vernal Tuesday. The Panthers will host West Oct. 15 and w ill take on the Rough Riders in Roosevelt Oct. 13. Vernal will entertain Canyonview Oct. 22 and a tournament is set for Oct. 21. |
