Show WIC . Women, infants and children may be eligible for free vouchers for nutritious foods if they qualify for a program offered through the Uintah Basin Health Department. WIC (women, infants and children) is a special supplemental food program offered to women, pregnant, breastfeeding breast-feeding or up to six months postpartum; post-partum; infants, to one year old; and children, up to five vears old. Eligible participants are issued free vouchers for milk, cereal, eggs, juice, cheese and infant formula. The goal of the WIC program is to provide nutritious foods and nutrition education to people during the crucial growth and development periods of their lives. Nutrition classes, covering a broad range of current nutritional issues, are held once a month at the Health Department and are open to the public. There are three eligibility criteria that must be met to qualify for the WIC program: first you must be a resident of Uintah, Daggett, or Duchesne Counties; second you must meet the income guidelines set up by the state division of health; and third, you must havea nutritional need such as anemia, inadequate diet, high-risk pregnancy or inadequate growth.
