I' i. u - - 1 4-i - -l ; . i: J PUTTING THE final touches on one of her latest oil paintings, Janice Leech gets ready to display her work at Uintah County Library during October. Leech paintings rubouts to be displayed The oil paintings and rubouts of Janice Leech, local' artist, will be displayed during October at the Uintah County Library. Mrs. Leech has been painting for iO years and introduced rubout painting to Vernal. "Rubout painting' is a type of reduction painting," Mrs. Leech explained. ex-plained. "Y'ou rub the paint on with your finger and subtract out what you don't want." She has taught rubout painting for the past two years in Vernal. Response to her classes last year was really great, she said. Mrs. Leech's paintings include renditions of old barns and windmills and more recently her interests have included fashions of the 1800s. She traveled to Kamas, Utah every Friday this summer to take pallet knife lessons from Joe McGregar. Mrs. Leech is the mother of three children Todd, Paige and Ashley and moved to Vernal from Houston. Texas three years ago. Pat. her husband, is affiliated with All Western Drill Contractors.
