"People are using the pool a lot more. We have had a full crowd every day. We have mainly kids during the afternoon and adults and families in the evening session," stated Dean Pope. Open swimming is held in the Vernal Swimming Pool from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Lap swimming takes place at the Vernal pool Monday through Friday at 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and from 12 noon to 1 p.m. "We have people who swim all year around and we average about 10 to 12 swimmers a day in the 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. session. We have about six swimmers who take part each day in the 12 noon to 1 p.m. session. There is plenty of room for lap swimmers. They can spend their lunch hour swimming. It is better for your waistline to go swimming than to go to lunch," commented com-mented Pope. There have been three sessions of swimming lessons so far at the Vernal Indoor Swimming Pool. "We had about 60 per session. We have had at least 200 kids come in for swimming lessons," stated Dean Pope. A swimming lession session began Monday and another session will begin on July 28 and will end on August 8. The sessions consist of two weeks and the fee is $15. The lessons are taught 8 to 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. We have lap swimmers on one side and people who want to exercise on the other side. No diving off the board is allowed," stated Dean Pope. "Some people just do it to cool off because of the hot weather we have had." Everything has been running smoothly at the Vernal Swimming Pool. "We haven't had to shut down one time this summer so far. However, people must get used to swimming when the weather is cold outside. It is the same temperature (warm) all year around in the Vernal swimming pool. We have to get people to swim all year around." said Pope. Pope remarked.
