Show Kep. McKay Uteyraofte Heel Fleet Bim dedicsitiora Congressman Gunn McKay and Commissioner Keith R. Higginson (Water and Power Resources Service) will keynote the Red Fleet Dam dedication ceremony Saturday, July 19. The program is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. The location of the dedication program will be on the top of the Red Fleet Dam and on the south abutment. Those attending the dedication will have an excellent opportunity to see the picturesque setting for the outstanding dam and reservoir. The turn-off road for Red Fleet on Utah 44, is north of the turnoff to the Stauffer Chemical Company plant, to the east on a paved road. Signs will mark the route from U- 44 to the Red Fleet Dam. Others appearing on the program will include County Commission Chairman, Merrill Mecham; Vernal Mayor Sam Snyder: Paul Gillette, Assistant Director, Division of Water Resources, State of Utah; N.W. (Bill) Plummer, Regional Director, Water and Power Resources Service. Utah State Senator Glade Sowards will give the dedicatory prayer. The program is jointly sponsored by the Uintah Water Conservancy District and the Water and Power Resources Service. Alvin C. Kay, vice president of the district, will be the master of ceremonies. Red Fleet Dam is a 145-foot-high earthfill dam that took three years to construct. It will store winter and high spring flows of Brush Creek and has a capacity of 26,000 acre-feet of water. The contractor. Brown & Root Western, placed 2'j million cubic yards of clay and gravel according to the Water and Power Resources Service design and finished, this spring, in time to start storing water A recreation complex with a boat ramp and restroom facilities, picnic tables, and a campground are being constructed. These facilities will be complete in the near future. |
