Show School Spirit Promoted by Cheerleaders By Deborah D. Hanna Besides screaming their hearts out, the Moab cheerleaders cheer-leaders have other activities for promoting school spirit for the big homecoming game, even among the small Red Devil fans. The cheerleaders held a contest among the small elementary children, grades kindergarten through fifth grades. Lynne Wimmer, one of the cheerleaders, explained the contest, "We told them to draw a Red Devil and the prizes were those big lolly-pops." lolly-pops." There were four winners, all from the Helen M. Knight School. (Southeast did not participate in the contest.) The winners were: First place, Randy Alexander, third grade; Second place, Bonnie Fulmer, second grade; Third place, Wendy Daines, first grade; and Fourth place, Corina Eshom, fourth grade. The winners received recognition at the homecoming assembly, Oct. 6. The Red Devil cheerleaders are very busy ladies, prompting prompt-ing school spirit every possible way they know how. |
