Show Pirate News... Mrs. Noreen Wilson will be returning to her duties as 2nd grade teacher in Green River Elementary on Oct. 11 after a lengthy leave of absence for medical reasons. Mrs. Patricia Quarnberg has been substituting substitut-ing most ably for her during her absence. Elementary students will be having their school pictures taken on Nov. 19. Pre-school pictures will be at 2:30. The cost will be $5.00 for a package which includes 1 8x10, 2 3x5, 8 wallets and 1 group, and must be paid when the pictures are taken. The Pirate football team was handed a 50-6 loss at Altamont Friday in a game that saw several key Green River players injured. Freshman quarterback Greg Vetere wasr hurt in the Duchesne game the week before and is out of action the rest of the season. Brad Burr, who has continued to play in spite of an ankle injury, was side-lined again at Altamont. Back-up quarterbacks quarter-backs Alan Burns and Royd Hatt also took some good licks and their chances of returning to play this season are still in doubt. The Pirates will be playing short-handed and hurt as they face Monticello there at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 15, and East Carbon here at 4 p.m. on Oct. 22. The Girls' Volleyball Teams won their first games of the year by convincing margins over the Monticello Buckaroos at the GRHS Gym on Sept. 30. The girls play a demanding schedule this year with all of Region 10, not just the southern half as they did last year. The team is coached by Stan Parsons, and team members are: Candee Vetere, Lori Hunt. Kim Seager, Laura Acerson, Dawna Wilcox, Stacy King. Joni Banasky, Chris Powell. Linda Riches. Fran Duncan. Shalia Burr. Julie Duncan, Leslie Ekker, Danna Bastian, Kerry Dunham, Jo Simonson, Gayle Thompson, Tonya King, Pam Richardson and Jeannie Powell. They travel to Tabiona and Duchesne Du-chesne for games on Oct. 14, at home with Tabiona on Oct. 20, at East Carbon on Oct. 28, at Altamont on Nov. 4, at Monticello on Nov. 11, at home with East Carbon on Nov. 18, and at home with Altamont and Duchesne on Nov. 23. All students will be excused for UEA recess this Thurs. and Fri. , Oct. 7 and 8. Deer Season recess is Mon., Oct. 25. The Sophomore Class has scheduled schedul-ed their annual Deer Hunters Ball for Saturday Oct. 16. Midterm is here already, and the.first term ends on Oct. 29. |
