Show Moab Against Delta Rabbits At Homecoming Delta will be looking for their 22nd straight victory, Moab will be looking to upset the Rabbits for the first time in three contests including last year's state title classic Wednesday night when the two state powers collide in Moab's Homecoming. The unusual Wednesday date was brought on by the scheduled Utah Education Association meetings in Salt Lake City this weekend, but it would be a war on any other day. Delta dealt with pretender Millard last week and now seems to be on their way to another Region Seven title if not another state diadem. Moab can derail the Delta express. The Red Devils, obviously underdogs, played tough against some early opponents like South Sevier and Richfield which gave Delta trouble. Offensively the Rabbits' Gordon Rawlinson. who has scored as many as five touchdowns in one game, poses a one-man threat. Can Moab's Don Flynn, Randy Stubblcfield, Jay Johnson and Greg Larsen meet that threat? It could be that the Red Devil defense may provide more of an answ er. They've been beaten, but humiliated only once in two years. Coach Glen Richcson is a dangerous man to face more than once when it comes to devising defenses and the Moab mentor has more than one score to settle. Fifteen Moab seniors will be honored at the game. They would like nothing belter than to halt the Delta streak. Also, Moab needs a win to stay in the running fur a state playoff. Both teams have the incentive. It might end up a contest of desire. |
