The ceremony will be performed by her brother who is a bishop there. Her sons and daughters will be in attendance. Wayne is attending college on a full basketball scholarship, Russell is awaiting his mission call, Scott is employed here in Hanksville for La Vor Wells, and Jim, Colleen, and Debbie reside in Vernal. Attending the ceremony from Hanksville will be Mr. and Mrs. Ron Mitchell and Scott Shirley. Visiting Kathy Rees this week from San Diego is her sister, Nancy Cheslak and Ken Rausis. They toured Natural Bridges and Lake Powell this week. Kathy is employed at Hite Marina. A Cedar City man drowned over the week end at Lake Powell when the vehicle he was driving went off the boat launching ramp at Bull Frog and he wasn't able to get out of the submerged vehicle in about 15 feet of water. Mrs. Hilda Moore and granddaughter, Wendy Goat boarded their plane Friday in Salt Lake for their return trip to England after spending three months here with Hilda's Hil-da's daughter, Mrs. Joan Hunt, and family. They enjoyed a trip to California with Ted and Fern Morrison and a fishing trip on the Pacific, a trip to Jackson Hole with granddaughter, Trudy Hunt, along with outings around this area with the Hunts and Wilcox families. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Lierd and family spent the weekend in Grand Junction with Frank and Barbara Hahna who have recently moved there from Atlanta, Georgia. Frank is with Nuclear Assurance Company Com-pany and formerly resided in Teasdale while employed here. Completing Hunter Safety classes in Bicknell this week from Hanksville were Rita and Justin Ekkcr and John Johnson. John-son. The classes were taught by Otis Shelly. Derek Ekker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Ekker. was released releas-ed from the Sevier Valley Hospital following a two day stay because of an appendicitis attack. Also in the hospital was Mrs. Ekker's uncle from Salt Lake. Mrs. Bonnie Herman is in Salt Lake for several weeks caring for a friend's children while she undergoes major surgery. Don Ekker was one of the lucky elk hunters on the morning of the opening of the hunt but don't ask Jay Ekker or Carl Hunt where their elk are or they'll tell you some real tear-jerking stories. Patsy Rasmussen, daughter of Nile Rasmussen, was home over the weekend from Dixie College. Also attending college col-lege are Nona Lee and Coleen Johnson, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Kent Johnson who are attending CEU at Price. Rita Ann Ekker. daughter of Mr. and Mrs Jess Ekker, is employed by Strong Construction Construc-tion Co. on their road construction contract between Grover and Boulder as a flagman. Also employed from the Loa-Bicknell area are Camile Brian, Rhonda Deakin, and Torrey and Jimmy Mor-rell. Mor-rell. The annual Barbeque was held Sunday evening at Hite by the Marina personnel with a tour of Lake Powell aboard the Canyon King piloted by Tex McClatchy of Moab. The double-decker paddle wheel steamer is quite a sight on the waters of Powell. Mr. and Mrs.' W. L. Hill and her brother and wife were Friday visitors at the Dean Ekkers from their home in Monroe. La Mont Ekker is home from Grants, New Mexico where he's been employed with Bert Drilling to recuperate from a leg injury. r . I The Green River High School Band, under the direction of Mr. Salter, welcomed visiting judges in the Community Progress program to Green River last week. The purchase of new band uniforms was one of the major undertakings of the community during the past two years. |
