Show BIG PLANS FOR DRAMA By Margie Snyder "Oklahoma" comes to Moab in the form of a musical comedy being produced by the Grand County High's Drama Dra-ma Department. Other productions being planned for the year include "Annie, Get Your Gun," "I Shook the Family Tree," and the traditional, "Charlie Brown." Mr. Wendell Bowthorpe, drama director, hopes that this year will be full of learning experiences for his students. He also hopes that with help from his students, this will be his most successful year ever. Drama competition usually takes place in the early spring sometime, but drama students stu-dents re already preparing themselves for that. If a person were to attend any drama classes at this time, they would find students stu-dents walking, gesturing, and dancing to various types of music. No, this is not a remake of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," it is called pantomime. Mr. Bowthorpe believes that in acting, pantomime panto-mime is a most important facet and it is also a way to help oneself grow. The department de-partment students truly hope that this will be a year of growth for them all. |
