Show Literary Club opened fall season Mrs. Jen Pope, new president presi-dent of the Woman's Literary Club held the first business meeting of the year at the Senior Citizens Hall, Monday September 12 at 7:30 p.m. This club is starting its 79th year as a civic and cultural club in Moab. They belong to i the Utah Federation of Wo-j Wo-j men's Clubs and the General I and International Federations ; and make the longest women's wo-men's groups in the world. Other offices are Joan Sher-mer-vice-president, Marlyn Rose-Secretary, Rosalie Rob ertson-treasurer, Ida Corbin-historian, Corbin-historian, Mildred Claus-aud-itor, and Ann Pool-parliamentarian. Plans were made to participate partici-pate in Moab's Diamond Jubilee Jubil-ee October 3-8. A committee of Madge Warde, Pearl Taylor, Tay-lor, Ha Corbin, Jen Pope, and Carol Hines will work on float plans and another committee of Marian Pierson, Marlyn Rose, Flora Evans, and Joan Shermer to work on museum plans. The club decided to meet this year at the Senior Citizens Citi-zens Hall at 7:30 p.m. on the first Monday of the month and on the 3rd Saturday at 2 p.m. Two memorials will be given giv-en to the Senior Citizens Building Fund in the name of Mrs. Ward's sister, Maude Moore and Flora Evan's sister. sis-ter. Jewel Cordova. The Annual Membership Tea will be September 24 and all ladies interested are begged beg-ged to attend. They may call Ylrs. Membership is open until the 3rd meeting of the year for all who live here now or at any time of the year for new women moving into town. The state fall board meeting meet-ing is October 15 in Provo, Utah. Other appointed officers are The Arts-Marlyn Maxwell, Home Life-Carol Hines, Education-Hilda Unger, Interna tional Affairs-Ila Corbin, Public Pub-lic Affairs- Palma Jacobs, Conservation-Marian Pierson, Flower and Gift- Mrs Jacob, Yearbook, Joan Shermer and Publicity-Ann Pool. The fall bound meeting of Eastern District will be October Oct-ober 22 in Price at the College of Eastern Utah with an Alcohol and Drug workshop in the afternoon. |
