Staff psychiatrist arrives for duties in Moab William Airth Kindree and his family have recently arrived ar-rived from Idaho. Dr. Kindree is a physician and certified by the American Board of Psychiatry Psy-chiatry and Neurology as a specialist. His extensive medical med-ical background includes private pri-vate practice, program design, de-sign, and education and training. train-ing. He does not ascribe to any particular psychological school or theory, and draws established principles from any frame of reference, as long as they work. The doctor and his wife, Mary Anne, were born in Ontario Canada where they received their early formal education. After graduating with his B.A., then M.D. degree from the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada, Dr. Kindree spent 5 years of post-graduate study in psychiatry and neurology. Mary Anne is a registered nurse. They farmed 610 acres of grain land, practiced medicine, medi-cine, and raised their children in Ontario. Their four lovely daughters, liana 17, Norah 16, Martha 14, and Anne 12, attend Grand County Schools. The girls share in family "decisions and participate actively act-ively in regular "round table" discussions. Needing to explore, expand and experience has led to fascinating places and people. Love of water has led the Kindrees to live in the Finger Lakes area and on the Virginia Vir-ginia coast. Some years ago, they cruised the eastern coastal waters spending a sabbatical year researching and catching up on writing. A more recent sabbatical was spent in the mountains of Idaho. They have found it is possible to enjoy the benefits of cultural centers, which they enjoy, and maintain their privacy at the same time, in the wide open spaces. Whether Wheth-er on the land, sea, or in the mountains, the Kindrees seem to blend easily into the environment. envi-ronment. Teaching and writing are areas that Dr. Kindree particularly partic-ularly enjoys. Condensation of rather complex material " into simple basic principles is an art that Dr. Kindree is proficient in, w hether it be an exploration of chromosomal analysis or how a sail works. Indeed, after teaching family and friends to sail, he published pub-lished a small book, "Sail Mate Sail" complete with teaching model on sailing basics. A psychiatric lecture series that the doctor developed for medical assistants in a private primary health care corporation, corpora-tion, forms the basis of a manuscript the Kindrees hope to publish soon directed to laypcople concerned with mental health. A. & A. Kindree, Kin-dree, Design and Development Develop-ment has also published "Farm Years," a poetry book and 'To Be," an introspective novel. "Variety is the spice of live" seems to be one of the mottos of the Kindrees. While everyone every-one enjoys boating, they've left their jet and sail boats behind and hope to "take to the skies." Dr. Kindree has flown for years and now all his females are interested in getting get-ting their wings. Recently he flew a tiny antique trainer with a friend from New Jersey Jer-sey to Idaho! Music plays an active role in home life. Father, an accomplished accom-plished pianist and arranger has inspired and taught family members with string and keyboard instruments. Their family band has played for small church groups and informal in-formal house get-togethers. They favor the big band sound of the fifties and love and use rhythmic songs with a positive, posi-tive, joyful message. Dr. Kindree has joined the staff of the Four Corners Mental Health Center and he will be sharing his expertise with staff and other physicians physi-cians in the four counties: Grand, Emery, Carbon, Snn Juan. He is a much needed asset niul he anticipates plcas- ant, productive associations with colleagues, co-workers, and clients. A quote from one of Dr. Kindree's poems sums up a family philosophy: "I will be your Eager Student! I will share your Happy Look! We will walk and Laugh Together! To-gether! Praise the Sun and Love the Brook!" Happy to be in Moab! |
