Show , -if,-"''-" -. " i . k ... - Midland crews have still been unable to get to the top of 11,360 foot Abajo Peak this week because of deep powder snow. They plan to adjust the microwave equipment in the station seen above the road in this outside world. They are now equipped with 25 telephones plus six pay stations which will be serving not only the local residents there, but the thousands of visitors who .will be going there for boating adventures in the months and years to come. The drama of getting telephone service to the red rock desert and Lake Powell vacation paradise has involved the construction construc-tion of a chain of microwave micro-wave stations, not only in the desert, but on the high peaks of southeast Utah as well. The microwave unit at Bullfrog (elevation 4,000) interchanges signals photo as soon as crews are able to make the ascent. Service to Bullfrog Resort in the meantime is working excellently. Mfdtend Service to Bullfrog Now in Operation People at Bullfrog Re- sort on Lake Powell up to now have had to use a push-to-talk mobile radio to communicate with the with the facility on Abajc Peak (elevation 11,360), then Monticello (7000 feet), Bald Mesa in the LaSals (elevation 9,200), and Moab Mo-ab (4000 feet). Midland's modernized microwave telephone service, ser-vice, a part of their $3.5 million program, is resulting re-sulting in accurate, de- j pendable communications for all parts of southeast Utah.
