Show Internal Renue Service Offers Assistance to Taxpayers SALT LAKE CITY, Utah Roland V. Wise, District Director of the Utah Internal Inter-nal Revenue Service, again reminds Utahns that the regular Taxpayer Information Informa-tion Program for filing 1970 Federal income tax returns re-turns will be in effect January Jan-uary 4, 1971 through April 15, 1971. Taxpayers are reminded re-minded that the Salt Lake City offices are located in the Post Office & Court, house Building, 4th South and Main Streets. Assistance Assist-ance is also available at all local Internal Revenue Service Ser-vice ofiices throughout the State. Internal Revenue Service employees will answer an-swer questions or give information in-formation to persons making mak-ing out income tax returns but they would like to emphasize their extended telephone facilities at telephone facilities which provide a quick and convenient con-venient service to taxpayers taxpay-ers and minimize the cost to Internal Revenue Service. Ser-vice. The plan of advising and instructing taxpayers in filling out their own returns re-turns will be carried out as in last year's program. Mr. Wise states that service will be given gladly and cheerfully, upon either a telephone or a personal contact from a taxpayer, and that returns of handicapped handi-capped individuals will be actually prepared if they cannot physically do the job for themselves. The Salt Lake City, Og. den and Provo offices are open Monday through Fri-day Fri-day 'from 8:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. The other IRS local offices rave regular scheduled sched-uled Taxpayer Assistance days which are publicized in those areas Attention is also called to the fact that the Provo Internal Revenue Service Office is located on the first floor, Room 102, in the new Federal Building, 83 West 100 North, Provo, Utah 84601. The Ogden office is located oa the first floor, Room 1301, in the New Federal Building, 324.25th Street, Ogden, Utah - 84401. Income tax returns and instructions are being mailed mail-ed to taxpayers who are requested to: (1) Read the instructions instruc-tions carefully, in prepar. ing the returns line by line. Be sure to use full Name, Address, and Social Soci-al Security Number. Use pre-addressed form or label la-bel whenever possible. (2) Send your return direct di-rect to the Internal Revenue Reve-nue Center at Ogden, 1160 West 1200 South, Ogden, Utah - 84405. (3) If further assistance is required call the local Internal Revenue Service office on the telephone.: Salt Lake City 524-4060 Ogden & 399.6551 and 6552 Provo 374-5212 Logan 752-0321 (4) In the event the telephone tele-phone call cannot clear up the difficulty, come into the Internal Revenue Service Ser-vice office. The current edition of the tax reference books "Your Federal Income Tax," and "Tax Guide for Small Business" are available avail-able at various offices for 75c per copy. Reminder: As was the case last year, the consolidated one-page Form 1C40 is again to bo used in filing 1970 Federal income tax returns in lieu of the discontinued Card Form 1040A. |
