Show Winners Announced This Weak In Elks Hoop Shoot Contest The first Annual Moab Elk's Lodge Hoop Shoot was held Saturday, January Janu-ary 2, 1971 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grand County High School. All boys in Grand and San Juan County under un-der the age of fifteen as of March 31, 1971, were eligible to compete and participate in the contest. The boys shot five practice free throws, then shot 15 for record, rested 5 minutes min-utes and then shot 10 more free throws for record, making ma-king a total of 25 free throws. The results of the contest are as follows: 10 Years of age and Under 1st place, Richard Cannon, Moab, son of Richard Can-. Can-. non, Sr.; second place, Donny Frakes, Moab, son of Clyde Frakes, and 3rd place, Greg Larsen, son of G.A. Larsen, also om Moab. , 11 and 12 years of Age 1st place, Kim Loveridge, Lover-idge, Moab, son of Colin Loveridge; Marlyn Wyatt, Moab, son of Calvin Wyatt, Wy-att, and Mike Bunce, Moab, Mo-ab, son of Glenn Bunce. 13 and 14 Year Olds 1st place, Van Mays, Moab, son of Bmmitt Mays,; 2nd place, Mark Marksberry, Moab, son, of Ralph Marks-berry, Marks-berry, and 3rd place, Mike Adkison, son of Bob Ad-kison, Ad-kison, Moab. Van Mays scored 19 of 25 free throws; Mark Marksbury scored 18 of 25; Mike Adkison, 16 of 25. |
