Show coming action According to word from the Attorney General's office, of-fice, one definite measure which will go before Utah lawmakers when they begin their regular session next Monday, will be a proposal which would ask voters to amend Utah's constitution to provide for alternative forms of government in counties and cities of the state. Specifically, it would lift constitutional prohibitions from consolidating city-county government, if the people peo-ple in the counties involved so desired. This would make way, in many cases, for the elimination of duplication I in services offered on the local level, which theoretically should increase efficiency and decrease cost. I We hope the measure makes it. If passed, it would not mean that counties and cities would be required to make the change. But for those who could see the benc- fits, and who desired to make changes, they would be allowed to. |
