Show Four Corners Funds Allocated For San Juan County Road Approval of a $ 1 0 1 ,5'.0 .;rant to help complete the financing for an acci.u roaij to the (ilen Canyon Ui-rreational Area in San Juan County, L'tah, was an null nrr-d today by Governor Gov-ernor Calvin L. Rarnpton, Utah mi-mUr and State Cochairrnan, and Stan U'o-rriLi-, Federal Cochaiman of tho Four Corners Regional Reg-ional Commission. The funds from tho Federal Fed-eral - State agency will yt to (.lie San Juan County Commissioners-, Monticello. They will he used to help meet the costs of a highway high-way from Red Horse to the Glen Canyon Recreational Recrea-tional Area lioundry line near Hall's Crossing. It is one of four access roads to Canyoulands I'ark and the Lake Powell recreational recrea-tional area, Womcr said the Four Corners Commission previously pre-viously approved a $310, Tia funds approved today will help the county meet costs not anticipated when the project was initiated. The Economic Development Develop-ment Administration, U. S. Department of Commerce, Commer-ce, is akintf a $2,204,400 grant fur the project and San Juan County and the State of Utah are providing, provid-ing, $1,149,805 to complete .the $::,7G;,2!J5 total cost. The Commission was established es-tablished under the Public Works and Economic Development De-velopment Act to encourage encour-age growth in a 92- county coun-ty region of Arizona, Colorado, Colo-rado, New Mexico, and Utah. Womcr said the additional addition-al funds for the Hall's Crossing Road were approved ap-proved in connection with the Commission's goal to help open the region to tourism development. 500 grant for the highway. |
