Show City Views Costs on Improvement Job Windup Mayor Wir.ford Dunce Tuesday discussed road work which is scheduled to be completed by Thome Construction sometime in July. Paving- on the project pro-ject will begin on Thurs day of this week w'th work on Rosetree and Center Cen-ter Streets to be complied compli-ed first. The project, which was bid at $392,000 plus engineering, engi-neering, includes curb ann gutter which was pourer. for about ten miles including includ-ing about .6 miles on the Fourth East project, as well as repaving of al'. roads which were torn u; when curbing was installed. install-ed. When questioned about payment for this project, Mayor Bunce sta'.ed that about $20,000 per year hr.3 traditionally been put into patching and repair wjrk across the city streets. This amount will dwindle to some $3 or $4 tliousjnd with the repaving of all the streets in the projt. The extra monies aknjr with some Class C road funds will be put into payment pay-ment on the bond wh.tc h is expected to cost $16,('00 plus interest of 6 per cent per year. This area, however, will be one of the last to be paved because of a work plan by Midland Telephone which calls for underground telephone cable ca-ble to be installed thi3 summer on Second, Third and Fourth East. On Main Street, under ground drains have already been installed at the corner cor-ner of Main and Center Street and this drain will carry water into a lare pipe and eventually into Mill Creek. Completion of this firo-ject, firo-ject, the Mayor said, should remove most of tiu problems of flooding which have been experienced in the past when heavy rains have occurred. In almost ill areas, the waters will be carried into Mill Creek where they can do no harm.
