Show EDITORIAL -- BOY CHEERLEADERS? WHY NOT1 By Mickie Turner & Rhonda Roundtree Many colleges, universities univer-sities and high schools have had boy cheerleaders for many years. The boys come in handy by being bases for double stunts, pyramids, and other physical phy-sical demands. Cheerleading is like a sport itself. In some schools it is counted as physical education credit. It also keeps you in great shape by jumping around and doing flips, hand springs, cart wheels, . round-offs and other gymnastic gym-nastic moves. So, the boys who think it's not "cool" to be a cheerleader or else "sissy like" should watch what work the cheerleaders put into a night of cheering instead of looking look-ing at their legs. It really takes alot of spunk to get up in front of all those people and look them all in the face and talk to them. Maybe that is why the boys aren't cheerleaders and say that it's not "cool"; because they're afraid to get up and be themselves in front of a huge crowd. So think about it, cheerleading is just as difficult and as physically demanding as any sport is. Maybe a few brave men should break the ice for our own school.
