Citizen of the Year contest applications still being sought I Nominations are still being I accepted in the fifth annual Citizen J of the Year contest, sponsored by J the Moab Chamber of Commerce. Chamber President Ron Auger I commented during the regular I weekly luncheon of the group that I very few nominations have been I received at the Chamber office. In a J change from previous years, ! nominees this year will be eligible ! for both short and long term I contribution, with a possibility that j two people may receive the award, I one in each category. The award is I intended to honor those citizens j who have contributed outstanding ! service in one or more of the ! following areas: community; church or hospital; service to handicapped. I youth or aged; heroic effort or j charitable act. I The deadline for submitting I nominations is Tuesday, Oct. 24, with announcement of the 1978 Citizen(s) of the year early in November. Contest rules state that nominees may be male or female and the contest is open to anyone living in Moab or vicinity, with a Moab address. Nomination forms can be picked up at the Chamber office. Nominations Nomina-tions must be made by or through a Chamber member, however. The Citizen of the Year Committee is being chaired by Adrien Taylor, one of two holdovers from last year. The other is Betty Schumaker. Two new members appointed to two-year two-year terms are John West and Randy Spencer. Those honored in the past include Howard Balsley, Harold Jacobs, Hannah Pittman, and last year, a joint award was presented to K. E. McDougald and Ev Schumaker. |
