Show Moab Students Will Enter Drama Meet Notre Dame High School in Price, Utah will host the Division Drama Meet on Tulesday, March 24. Six schools will be participating ,in the event: Notre Dame, San Juan, Monticello, Green River, East Carbon, and Grand. Competition in the various fields of drama will consist of rwo rounds and a final round for the winners. Those participants who will go to state competition will be selected from those entered en-tered in the final round. There are six areas of competition: humorous reading, read-ing, dramatic reading, pan-tomine, pan-tomine, mono-acting, retold story, and one-act plays. (I tumorous and dramatic readings are memorized interpretive in-terpretive readings with no acting. They are from 7-10 minutes long. Mono-acting consists of one person taking the part of one character, but acting and reacting as if Other people are present. These are from 4-10 minutes Jong, and are memorized. Pantomine is the enaction of a story without conversation. Any number of characters jmay be used. Retold story participants must be familiar famil-iar with children's stories, teenager stories, and adult Stories. From a list of 30 stories, three are drawn from a hat. The participant ,is allowed to chose one, and Jhen given 30 minutes to prepare to give the story. .These are not memorized. Each school is allowed to enter one one-act play. These plays may have any numbep of characters, and are 30 minutes long. Students from the speech and drama departments under un-der the direction of Mr. Russ Donoghue and Mr. Wendell Bowfchorpe will participate in .the meet. Three people wil be entered in each of the areas with the exception of those in panto-mine panto-mine and the one-act play. |
