He had been a resident e-f the Salt Lake City area and .involved in business develop ment work and as manager ef the computer center for Continental for a number of years. He was originally a na-' na-' :ive of the Chicago area. "I Mr. Hoffman and his wife, :Jan, are parents of five child-ien. child-ien. all of whcm are enrolled in Grand County Schools. Mrs. Hoffman will continue contin-ue operation of Hoffman's 7Catle Valley Ranch, the new cirectcr tated. J The appomtment was made 1y the Grand County Economic Eco-nomic Development Committee Commit-tee and confirmed by the "Grand County Commission following a two-month period 'during which the Committee interviewed applicants for the : position of Ml-time director. Kenneth Beach, chairman of the Economic Development Commission stated that his group felt fortunate in obtaining ob-taining so many qualified applicants ap-plicants during interview sessions, ses-sions, and went on to say that Mr. Hoffman's varied and professional pro-fessional background make him highlv qualified for the job. Created by the Grand County Coun-ty Commission earlier this year and funded to the extent of $2.1.0:3 for its first year cf operation, the Grand County Coun-ty Economic Development Committee is charged ih the responsibility of coordinating coordin-ating all Grand County efforts ef-forts at obtaining state, federal fed-eral and private assistance in economic development work; in developing a master mas-ter plan for ultimate development develop-ment for the county; and in encouraging new industry tu the area. The Director will work full-time on these projects pro-jects and will travel extensively exten-sively promoting economic development of this area and will represent Moab and Grand County on numerous boards and agencies working in this field. The committee itself consists con-sists of seven members, under un-der Mr. Beach as chairman They are Ray Branscom, Ralph Osborne, Sam Taylor,-K. Taylor,-K. E. McDougald, Winford Bur.ce and D. L. Taylor. They have been meeting weekly to define priorities and job responsibilities re-sponsibilities for the past two months, and have done some |
