Mrs. Fran ices Foy is the sponsor of the G.C.H.S Honor Hon-or Society. She said that the date for tojtalion and the ceremonies involved have not been 'set, but will be soon. Teachers have the greatest great-est ryponsibility in the selection sel-ection of new members. They make a list of qualified students and submit it to a representative committee of f mall so1eot,kn.. This committee com-mittee then decides who the new members will be, the members are informed of their decision and will be honored during an initiatih assembly and a formal banquet ban-quet which will immediately follow the assembly. There are many limitations limita-tions in choosing the new members. A major one is the number from each class that can be accepted by the National Na-tional Society. The Sopho-imore Sopho-imore class can qualify five (percent of their class membership, mem-bership, the Juniors, ten percent, per-cent, and the Seniors are al-Oowed al-Oowed fifteen percent. Mrs. Foy said, "One thing that is misunderstood by many parents is the qualifications qualifi-cations needed to enter into the society. Students with high averages may not get ;in while some with lower averages may." She added that the committee must put as much importance on the other qualifications as they do on scholarship; the others being leadership, service, and character. She said, "They have to weigh each one equally, which sometimes some-times can be very difficult." The Honor Society is planning to contribute toward the new trophy case. It's Junior and Sophomore members mem-bers also plan to help with Senior activities during (graduation and baccalaureate. baccalaure-ate. The Society officers this year are President, Sharon Patterson, Vice-President, Dennis Bailey, and Secretary-Treasurer, Merlene Day.
