The road from Crescent Junction through Moab, Mon-ticeUo, Mon-ticeUo, Blanding, Bluff and Mexican Hat to the Utah-Arizona border and Kayenta will be renumbered U. S. Route 163. The road from Monti-cello Monti-cello easterly to Ccrtez will be renumbered U. S. Route 666. Navajo Route 1 will be renumbered U. S. 160. This revised route numbering num-bering system is a compromise compro-mise that is acceptable to r.H states involved, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah, according to state officials. of-ficials. Highway Department officials expect that these new route numbers will have a long range effect toward improving the economy of Grand and San Juan Counties Coun-ties and of all southeastern Utah. Utah Highway Department crews are already preparing to change signing to the revised re-vised numbering. These numbers num-bers will be on the 1970 Utah Highway map. |
