Show Dead Horse Point Travel Up a Little Over Dec. 1973 During the month of December, 743 persons visited Dead Horse Point Sate Park. For the same month in 1973 the park had 705 visiters. This represents a 5.4 per cent increase for the month of December visitation. For i the year of 1974 the park ' had 56,350 visitors, dur- i ing 1973 the total visita- ' Lion was 68,314 persons, i For the year of 1974 the ' park showed a decrease i of 17.4 per cent, according accord-ing to Superintendent Mike Barker. Camping also showed a decrease during the year of 1974. During the I year of 1974 the park had 5,414 persons camp. I During 1973 7,951 persons per-sons camped at Dead 1 Horse Point. This represents re-presents a 32 per cent decrease for the year. The units that camped this past year did stay longer than they have in the past. This has to be due to the new camp facilities which were opened this past summer. sum-mer. There were 41 commercial com-mercial buses which entered en-tered the park this past year. This is about a 50 per cent increase over 1973. If the economy remains re-mains the same we should see a greater increase in-crease in the travel to park areas by commercial commer-cial bus. The road to the point is still open and should be most of the winter, it is wise to have snow tires when planning a trip to the park. Camping will be permitted through the winter on the point. There will be restroom facilities available for those who visit the park. Those who wish to camp should bring there own water and firewood. |
