Bldg, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah 81112. The report, Bulletin 101. is authored by R.C. Blakey, Assistant Professor Pro-fessor of Geology. Fort Hays Kansas State College, Col-lege, Hays, Kansas. The geologic study of the Triassic Moenkopi formation, is the first to provide basis for regional region-al correlation and division divi-sion of the formation into in-to four distinct members: mem-bers: the Black Dragon (new), Sinbad Limestone, Tor rev (new) and Moody Canvon (new ). The study was started in 1970 in conjunction with mapping of the oil-impregnated oil-impregnated sandstone bodies in the San Rafael Swell vicinity of F.mery County. Other areas included in-cluded in the .study are within southeastern Utah's Teasdale Uplift, die Circle Cliffs and the i Monument I'pwarp. Information In-formation on tho depositional deposi-tional history 'and pat- terns of this extensive formation is expected to be of value in regional understanding of forma- tions of Triassic age in this part of I'tah and po-, po-, tential petroleum and mineral deposits. Bulletin 104 includes 81 pages, 38 illustrations , and four tables. An index map showing cross-sec- tions of the formation is included. Price is $4.00 over-the-counter, $4.40 mail. |
