Show Newspaper Rock State mk -Visitor Increase Hoted Monthly visitation for December at Newspaper Rock State Historical Monument Mo-nument in Indian Creek is up from 413 in 1973 to 524 visitors for the same month in 1974, it was reported this week by Gordon W. Topham, Ranger. This represents an increase of 26 per cent for the month. Total visitation for the year, however, was down from 22,235 to 8,040---a decrease of 64 per cent for the year. Goosenecks State Reserve Re-serve showed a decrease of 67 per cent for the month of December as compared to last year s visitaton. The total closed clos-ed for 1974 at 11,914 visitors, which represented repre-sented a 48 per cent decrease de-crease from 1973's total to-tal of 22,891. The snowmobile use for the Monticello area seems to be on the increase in-crease and as more snow accumulates in other parts of San Juan and Grand Counties, more use is expected, Mr. Top-ham Top-ham stated. An estimated 228 snowmobiles snow-mobiles left the Dalton Springs area of the Blue Mountains during the month of December, Mr. Topham stated. |
