Show Red Rocks Neighborhood Girl Scout leaders had a full day of meetings on youth problems. Gloria Reed, Junior Girl Scout leader from Helper, spoke to leaders on failures and succeses. Gloria attended a workshop in Price with the Human Values Institute and she brought a tape by Kay Allen, President of Human Values Institute. Hannah Pittman, Grand County Health Nurse, showed a film and gave a demonstration demonstra-tion on the Heimlich manover, a procedure for aiding a victim. Stacey Lawrence with the alcohol and drug program under the SE Utah Association of Governments held discussions discus-sions of reasons why teenagers take drugs and alcohol. She also commented on how youth organizations such as Girl Scouts offer a good prevention through programs and fund activities. Pat Colosimo with Health, Education and Welfare's Pro gram Direction with the Family Planning office in Price showed a film "Are We Still Going to the Movies?" The film was concerned with adolescent sexual conflict. Norah Eubanks, Family Planning Plan-ning Assistant in Moab, was introduced. The following is an article by Tammy Daniels, Troop 617, who is working on a writer's badge. On Thursday, March 24, Troop 617 went to 7 mile. We cooked and ate lunch. Then we hiked to a draw where we collected driftwood, rocks, petrified wood and rocks with crystals in them. . . .... . . |
