Some 405,000 feet of hole has been drilled. Presently, 38 rigs are working in the State, compared to a total of 10 a year ago. Oil and Gas leasing con. tinues strong. More than 800, 000 acres of Salt Lake lands have been covered in state 011 and gas lease account filings. The Federal Land olliee has had more than 900, 000 acres scattered throughout through-out Utah, Juab and Millard County as well as Grand . nd San Juan Counties. Leasing has been heavy in Duchesne and Uintah Counties also. The Toledo Mining Comply Com-ply (Salt Lake City) discovery dis-covery in the Bull Canyur area of Grand County, about 25 miles north of Moab, has been completed. Toledo's No. 1 well in section 4, township JO- range 21e, flowed 150 barrels of oil and 750,000 cubic feet cf gas per day from a depth of 3,615 to 3,674 ce- The well is a Salt Wah (Morrison) oil discovery. Toledo To-ledo also completed a step, out at No. 2 Bull Canyon flowing 200 barrels of oil and 500,000 cubic of gas per day from Salt Wash. Additional drilling is being done in the general area. In southeastern Utah's San Juan County, Wynn Oil wdl J. ill a 190 foot lest aouut a mile and a half west of Boundary Butte field. And, in Emery County, a remote exploratory ex-ploratory well will be drilled by Union Texas Petroleum to at least 7,000 feet. It is about 16 miles southwest of Salt Wash field. Several new developments are underway in Duschesr.e and Uintah Counties. Conten. ental Oil ran production casing cas-ing to a depth of 15,073 feet at the deep test, No. 22-1 Con-oco-Federal wildcat well in the Bitter Creek field area. Continental drilled to a total to-tal depth of 20,053 feet where it set a new record for the state. Completion will he attempted at the 35 073 fc, t level. I.i the Alta.tiont area, Phillips Petroleum gauged 1,638 barrels of oil and more than a million cubic cu-bic feet of gas per day on its completion of No. 1 Stewart. The well produces from a depth between 9,140 and 11 103 feet. Meanwhile, Shel. Cil has staked location for an intended southwest extcn. sion of the field at No. 1 2D B5 Rcbb Fee, a projected 13. 000 foot test of the Wasatch formation. It is about tvo j'li'es south and little east of the closest producer. ?Jjp co Company filed a notice of intention to drill an intended extension of Altament field at No. 1 Fisher, scheduled to at least 18,000 feet. It is three miles n- th of the nearest near-est producer in he field. Ai:d an exploratory well will be drilled by National Treasure Treas-ure Mines at No. 1-3 Coleman, Cole-man, about 10 miles northwest north-west of Cedar Rim field in Duchesne County. In its report of collection1; and assessments for the fiscal fis-cal year ending June 30, 1972 the Utah State Tax Com. mission reports a total of $129,473,443.00 has been assessed as-sessed in occupation tax o-i oil and gas in Utah.
